We had a great group out there today.  The weather was great -- it finally gave the fleet a break.

There were four boats booked with veterinarians........on a great trip from a veterinary drug rep........They all had a great time.  It sounded like the vets brought their families for a good time at the beach.  I asked Capt. Dave all sorts of questions about the vets and where they worked, since I have worked in veterinary medicine for 30 years but Capt. Dave could only tell me that one was from a hospital in Reston.  I worked not too far from there for 15 years. I bet they were all here for the First Flight Veterinary Conference which starts tomorrow.

There was a great color change with good Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) fishing and a good sign of Blue Marlin with several released and seen.

Capt. Dave is trying to get the 23' boat finished up tomorrow and then he is on the ocean most everyday from then.

I have tried to upload some great photos but I have not been able to get them up......I will ask the guy who knows all about this to see what he can do.

We're Here

I am really sorry for not putting a blog on the website but it has been crazy around the Swain household......Capt Dave and Jimmy have not fished too much in April as the weather has made it very difficult to get out there.  We have been booked up starting this past week but we have had high winds and high seas that have made sure that Spring is going to be a little late.

Cameron (Dave's son) and Capt. Dave are almost finished building the 23' commerical fishing boat in the shop at the house..........The guy who owes it is getting really excited as everyone can see how it is coming together.

Capt. Dave and I have then had a couple of weeks of non-stop on the go........we had family in town and got married May 1st.  We organised the entire celebration and had a great time with all our family and friends.

The winds and seas have settled, Capt Dave is venturing out there tomorrow.  There is some good fishing to the South of us from great reports from the Hatteras fleet..........they are here -- we just need to go get them!!!

We had Doug, Kevin, Zach and Dave out hunting down some Blue-fin Tuna.  It is great to have them on the boat.  There were a handful of boats off shore all looking for Blue-fin Tuna, we had a great 77" Blue-fin that we released.  The guys did a great job bringing him to the boat after he tried to go deep..............................

The wind was picking up inshore but we did not have it rough out there -- it was a great day out there and will this group.  We have been blown out for tomorrow and Saturday but we will see what next week brings.......

Haul Out Maintenance - 2013

We hauled out to dry dock on Tuesday March 26th, 2013 for her yearly maintenance.  We tried to get as much done as we could while the weather made it so that we could not go fishing, the problem with that is --- it is also hard to work in the yard in cold, rainy, windy weather too.

We were at Bayliss Boatyard for a week.  Dave, Jimmy, Cameron and Holly we able to get quite a lot of work done, at least, the stuff that had to get done out of the water..............We got the wheels re-conditioned, zincs replaced, shafts checked and washed her from top to bottom getting ready for the hull to be buffed and waxed, the bottom primed and painted, the transom touched up and the starboard (right) side toe rail totally re-done. That is a lot of work to get done in a week. Holly did have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, so she was able to help get it all knocked out on the weekend.  Jimmy and Cameron did a fabulous job getting her buffed, waxed and painted.

Capt. Dave who was helping with every project, removed and reinstalled the toe rail repair (not a quick job) it took four days involving 5 major steps -- he was a trooper since he was also in so much pain with an infected tooth.........there are not many dentists open on the weekend. He got some antibiotics and pain medication Monday afternoon, then the High Return went back in the water on Tuesday.
