I thought that I would get everyone up to date with what is going in our lives. Capt. Dave has been doing a lot of sitting in the woods watching deer. He went a couple weeks ago when the temp was absolutely frigid. He called me and said that it was so cold that nobody in their right mind would be out in this --- well, all the animals already knew that. He has had a great season and we have a freezer full of venison. Christmas was great for us. The kids (well the youngest is 18 years old) came over on Christmas Eve for dinner and to open presents. It is our Christmas with them and it was wonderful to have everybody here. Christmas Day was a quiet one for Capt Dave and I; we checked on the boat, took Charlie (Choc Lab) for a walk on the beach, watched a couple of movies and in the evening we drove up the beach to see the Christmas Lights. The temps were great with not a breath of wind, and all sunshine. Charlie had a wonderful time running on the beach, while Dave and I enjoyed the beach all to ourselves. Boxing Day brought a complete change to the weather with the storm that rolled in during the night. I was disappointed that we did not wake up to snow but rain instead. We went to check on the boat and on the way back the snow started falling - and boy did it..... The photos are of our driveway just as we got home when it started snowing. We all had fun, especially Charlie, playing in the snow...... Tigger, our cat, was excited by the snow but was not too thrilled with the cold temperatures --- he prefers running on the boat when it is warm. The weather has made it almost impossible to get out for all of December but a couple of boats did go when the weather would permit, they found Blue-fin Tuna at the edge of the Gulf Stream and the Stripers a few miles off the beach. The temperatures that we have been having normally gets here in February, not December. This is shaping up to be a fabulous Striper season --- we can't wait. Capt. Dave and I wish everyone a good New Year and a great 2011. |
