Yesterday Capt Dave and I checked on the boat, and then drove to Hyde County with our boys for the opening day of Dove season.  Charlie was not sure what was going on but she knew something exciting was happening.

We found a spot that was a little away from the main crowd and got into position in a cut corn field.  Charlie was beside herself --- big open field, guns, decoys and not on a leash ---- fun, freedom....... what more.  We realized that this was not the best situation to put a puppy in for her first day hunt since the corn was cut with 2 feet stalks still on it.  The first bird came in and was hit, Charlie did need a little help figuring out the area that the bird fell since she was so intently watching the shell casing eject from the barrel instead of watching the bird.  We have found that "our girl" has a great nose on her and found every bird.

The boats got out for the first time today since Hurricane Earl, go to Oregon Inlet Fishing Center's website to see what was caught......  The remainder of the schools go back after Labor Day ---- fall fishing is upon us..... Call Capt Dave if you want to go fishing!!
