Well, where do I start......it has been a non-stop 3 days; with another 3 to go...... Hurricane Earl, a catogory 4 hurricane will be the largest and hardest hurricane in history to come to the Outer Banks --- we ALL hope that it stays off-shore!!!! We went fishing on Tuesday and had an awesome day! When we got back to the dock we packed up all the ropes, the electrical cord and fuelled up. We moved to Capt. B.C's canal nect to his house, he is the person who built the High Return. Today, Dave and I (Holly) got up early and got her all ready for the hurricane to roll in this evening. We took off the curtains, secured everything inside and moved her into the middle so that we could get ropes on her from all sides ---- she now has 12 ropes on her to keep her from moving back or forth and side to side..... I can get the ropes where they need to be, but the way that Capt. Dave manuvers her, still amazes me everytime I see him in a tight spot..... Heath went to Maryland to make sure his mom was ready and OK. There are two other boats in the canal with us, all of them in the middle. The canal is about 35 feet wide and the boat is 18 feet wide ---- that is not much wiggle room. We will be checking on her thoroughout the night -- so we will not be getting any sleep overnight... Tomorrow the hurricane is out of here and it will be clean up time. I took some pictures once we where all done securing the house and the boat, I hope that everyone can see how narrow the canal is and how many ropes she has on her....... |
